Our Police Mini Cadets have started at Barton.  This is a 9 week programme run by PCSO Mark Ball.  During the meetings, the cadets are involved in discussions about codes of conduct, teamwork and mutual respect. The PCSOs teach the children about codes of conduct, uniform standards as well as imparting important advice on keeping safe online. The cadets work together in a variety of activities to make a difference to our local community as well as supporting students within our school.  

Year 5 have already learnt so much about their new history topic of the Ancient Mayans. They have taken part in part activities, food tasting and a virtual drama workshop from One Day Creative workshops. They set sail to Mesoamerica and learnt about the ancient Mayan civilisation, culture, gods and the importance of the cocoa bean. Using their knowledge they even made their own hot chocolate from cocoa beans.. yummy!  

Year 4 took part in a whole day immersive drama workshop to introduce their new topic of 'Ancient Greece'. They were able to role-play, dress up in Greek clothing, learn about trades and traditions as well as explore Greek art.   The children all had a fantastic time and learnt a lot about already with thanks to Living History Workshops.     For more photographs, please take a look at our Facebook: Facebook

Thursday 29th Februrary, Early Help workers from Buckland and Whitfield Children's Centre will be joining us for a coffee morning at 9:00am. This will take place at Shatterlocks Infant and Nursery School and all parents from Barton and Shatterlocks are invited. They will go through techniques and strategies designed to support families at home, and will be able to sign post parents to where they can access further support if you are concerned or would like help. Teas, coffees, biscuits and cakes will be available. No advance booking required!
